How to Perform a Site Survey

If you are collecting information for a handrail project please follow the steps below.

  1. Measure - take measurements of all the ramps, stairs, sidewalks and walkways. If you have a site drawings please provide a copy.
  2. Draw - draw a simple overhead diagram the shows the lengths and turns of the railing. This can be a very simple drawing (See Example PDF)
  3. Provide Pictures of anything unusual - if there are unusual elevation changes or abnormal fixtures that have to be navigated it may be helpful to have pictures of these items. This is not required.
